Pilotage fees will not be adjusted next year

15/06/2012

The Board of Directors of Finnpilot Pilotage Oy has confirmed that the pilotage fees for 2013 will be the same as in 2012.

The demand for pilotage services is expected to decrease considerably both this year and next year. The reason for the decrease in demand is above all increase in pilotage on line services.

In the peak year 2008, the number of pilotage requests exceeded 36,000. That level has not been reached since then. In 2011, pilotage services provided by Finnpilot Pilotage Oy accounted for around 40% of the total traffic and the pilotage tasks numbered 30,000.

In 2012, the number is estimated to total around 27,000. Finnpilot’s goal is to keep the operations profitable and ensure the regional availability of the services despite the decrease in demand. The pilotage fees that entered into force at the beginning of 2012 are enough to secure equal nationwide service and the further development of pilotage operations.

Finnpilot Pilotage Oy’s turnover for 2011 stood at 36 million euro and the loss for the financial year was -0.2 million euro. The number of permanent staff was 320, and man-years totalled 340.
